What is Disneybounding?

We’ve all seen the meme.

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

*Turns up as Batman*

But what if you actually could go to work dressed as a Disney character? Or to the shops? Or to Disneyland?

Enter Disneybounding!

What is Disneybounding?

Disneybounding is the art of using everyday clothes to dress as a Disney character.

Some add a Vintage twist

Others keep it modern.

How you do it is totally up to you.

The idea is to pair up outfits in the same colour scheme and use elements from the character to inspire your costume.

Where did Disneybounding start?

Disneybounding started on Tumblr back in 2011 by Leslie Kay. Initially set up to share her excitement about going to Disney World, Kay began to put together outfit ideas inspired by her favourite characters.

Disneybounding exploded.

It also helped get around Disney’s rules about costumes. No one over the age of 14 is allowed into the park in full costume.

So if you want to pay homage to your favourite characters at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, then you’ll need to Disneybound!

Disney Loves Disneybound!

Disney actually loves a bit of Disneybounding.

The brand endorsed the craze on their blog and created official merchandise in that style.

They even have their own Disneybound event: Dapper Day

Dapper Day happens at every Disney park in the world. On the designated weekends, Disneybounders descend on the parks for a series of special events. There’s exhibitions, pop-up stands, photo opportunities, and more!
